Jaipur is the capital and the largest city of the north-western Indian state of Rajasthan. As of 2011, the city had a population of 3.1 million. It is located 268 km (167 miles) from the national capital New Delhi. It is also known as the Pink City due to the dominant colour scheme of its buildings in the old city.

Although I have been there many times, this post has photos from our 2019 trip. Sitting on the edge of the Thar desert, the residents like everything colourful to counter the otherwise drab visuals.
Albert Hall Museum
The Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur is the oldest museum of the state. During the 19th century, it was considered one of the best museums in this country. The building is situated in Ram Niwas garden, just outside the city wall.
There’s even an Egyptian mummy here. The surroundings were dirty, though.
Amer Fort
Amber Fort or Amer Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India, 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur. Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction near the city. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace. It takes a few hours to explore the fort completely.

Jaipur City Palace
The City Palace, Jaipur is a royal residence and former administrative headquarters of the rulers of the Jaipur State. It’s full of tourists almost all the time. The royal family stil occupies part of the palace.

There’a small snack shop inside and I remember drinking Coca Cola there.
Hawa Mahal
The Hawa Mahal is a palace built from red and pink sandstone. It is on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur, and extends to the Zenana, or women’s chambers. Unlike the other palaces, this one is right on the main road.

I don’t think it has an “inside” one can visit.
Sisodia Rani Bagh
Sisodia Rani Garden and Palace is a garden known for its Rajput architecture garden 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from Jaipur city. It was our favourite place in Jaipur, as it was completely deserted.

There were friendly dogs roaming the palace. How many dogs can claim to live in a palace?
It was simply delightful spending our sunset here. Extremely peaceful.
