This post is Part 2 of a series covering our trip to Turkiye, featuring Ephesus & Kuşadası.
We arrived at Ephesus from Istanbul by plane. The wide-open countryside was a stark contrast to the buzzling city.
Ephesus was an ancient Greek city on the coast of Ionia, in present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey.

We went to the House of the Virgin Mary and the İsa Bey Mosque.
Then we went to see the ancient ruins of Ephesus. The city was famous in its day for the nearby Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), which has been designated one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Its many monumental buildings included the Library of Celsus and a theatre capable of holding 24,000 spectators.
After that, we went to the seaside town of Kuşadası. It was a charming place. Walking along the rocky beach in the evening was magical.
