Dresden is the capital city of the German state of Saxony and its second most populous city after Leipzig. It is the 12th most populous city of Germany, the fourth largest by area (after Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne), and the third-most populous city in the area of former East Germany, after Berlin and Leipzig. The Dresden metropolitan area has over 1.3 million inhabitants.

We arrived at Dresden by car on a day trip from Prague. We came here mostly because we ran out of things to do in Prague and we wanted to experience what East Germany looked like.

We walked around all day. The sights were fine, nothing enchanting, though.

We found the city to be peaceful. Young people would probably not have much to do here. The view of the Elbe river was nice and there was a protest on the other side.
